As a young Christian I always hated that phrase "More of Him, less of me" too, because I thought the way God made us each so uniquely deserved to be celebrated, not diminished, and that He cared about who I am as an individual, not just one of the mass.

I thought humility meant not being allowed to acknowledge the things I'm gifted in, but I just love what you said: "To be humble is to rest in the beautiful knowledge that we are “glorious and excellent things” for no other reason than God has made us so, and what a gift. What a freeing opportunity to think of ourselves less so that we may enjoy ourselves more."

Thank you so much for this!
